Welcome to my Art In Process
My name is Jean Bradley and I am an artist. I will be posting my ongoing painting series called Koffi Klan, featuring 10 employees of the fabulous coffee place called Koffi in Palm Springs on rt.111.John S., Troy, John A., Nina, Jean Bradley(artist), Jackie, Aubrey, Sheila, and Ralph. Thank you all for coming. We missed Sarah and David! Koffi South had some home made cookies, hot chocolate, crimson tea and coffee. There were around 300 people that came to see my awesome painting! Thank you all so much! Palm Springs Life came and took a picture of the painting with John A. and Jean for their facebook page. Koffi has won the Best of the Best in the valley! coffee that is…..
I was at Koffi today and someone told me some details about what they felt about looking at themselves. Now, these are all handsome men, so you might ask…what’s the problem? Well, Troy felt he was too fat, John A thought his nose was too long, well, we took care of the blond John S. So here you will see that I shortened the nose a bit on John A….actually my husband thought I had it too long too. I slimmed down Troy’s cheeks a bit and his neck. Troy is very slim so the “fat thing” comes from…?
I think they all look terrific! That little bit of blueish white on the very right hand side and the bit of black is Nina’s bun and sleeve from the first panel that I painted. This will be displayed all together, the 3rd panel is actually the first, then the girls, NIna, Sarah, and Aubrey…then the last panel is Jackie, David, Ralph and Sheila…whew! There will be an opening at Koffi on Dec. 4th in the early evening to view the unveiling of this nine foot painting! I will post more about that later, but save the date!
I am very happy with the detailed adjustments I made as now it looks like John. By the way I made an adjustment on John S….a little birdie told me his hair was too white so I made it more blond, like it is indoors. Also, the canvas is reflecting the sun going down which makes the photo less than perfect, but I wanted to post the last picture. I will take another with John’s shirt finished tomorrow when there is better sunlight.
John A is also from Chicago, actually that is where they both met. John has two music degrees, one in conducting and one in teaching. Very Cool! You never knew such talent was behind Koffi! John
also collects pottery, a man after my own heart. He collects Van Briggle as well as some Indian pottery. Hey John, do you have any Teco pottery? Anyway, I started painting his face trying to follow the light skin tones and the dark skin tones and the slightly more orange ones, etc. So many different shades!
